There was not an empty seat in the house on Friday evening as Borussia Dortmund’s Edin Terzić addressed the media at Wembley Stadium, as his die Schwarzgelben side finalise their preparations for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.
Dortmund have not reached this stage of Europe’s elite club competition since the all-German affair that took place on the very same turf in 2012/13; a match in which Ilkay Gundogan’s goal was not enough to seal a result given strikes from Mario Mandzukic and Arjen Robben.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Terzić assured fans that “our clear goal is to win the trophy,” and insisted that every game leading up to this point has just been a warmup for the showpiece finale under the famous arch.

If we don’t just want to watch as they lift their next trophy, but rather give them a real game, then we have a chance. If you break it down to one game, then anything is possible in football.”
The boyhood Dortmund fan added that he is “convinced that we will have a really good game tomorrow” because he sees “a lot of anticipation and a lot of desire” within his squad.
30,000 fans of die Schwarzgelben have secured tickets to be inside Wembley Stadium when the action gets underway at 20:00 BST on Saturday, but Terzić stressed that “no matter how far away they [the fans] are, we need every single person with us.”
Borussia Dortmund will face Real Madrid in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League final on Saturday, 1 June 2024. Kickoff at Wembley Stadium is scheduled for 20:00 BST. FromTheSpot will provide extensive coverage of the buildup and the match itself on FromTheSpot.co.uk and our X account.
