Gallagher, reflecting on his previous experience at the 2022 World Cup under Gareth Southgate shared: “In Qatar, I was expected not to play. I still loved the experience.

“A couple of years on, I’m in a different position. I’ve developed and am more experienced. I am hoping I can help [England] more in this tournament.”

This statement underlines his growth as a player and his readiness to contribute significantly to the Three Lions’ campaign. His maturity and poise were evident as he addressed questions about his club future, emphasising his current priorities.

“You said it. I’ve been focusing on England. This is the most important thing right now for me. I just want to start the tournament now.”

Gallagher’s impressive performances at Chelsea have been a testament to his dedication and hard work. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who trusted him with greater responsibility.

“He just showed his belief and trust in me. It’s all a player wants. If a manager shows you a bit of love, it makes you play better, gives you confidence. That’s what he gave me.”

The midfielder also spoke about the competitive environment within the England squad and his readiness to contribute in any capacity.

“First of all, [Trent Alexander-Arnold] is a top player. Everyone in the squad has their own strengths. I’ll always be ready to start if needed, or to come on from the bench. This squad has very healthy competition. We are buzzing.”

Gallagher has remained positive and focused on the Euros despite managerial turmoil at his club, Chelsea. “I’ve been focusing on England – this is the most important thing for me and the country. I just want to start the tournament now.”

Discussing his leadership role within the squad, Gallagher expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has received. “I’ve come a long way this season. To give credit to Pochettino for what he has done for me, he has given me a lot of responsibility and trust at Chelsea. It puts me in a better position to be a bigger part of the squad for this tournament. I’m going to do everything I can to help the team as much as possible.”

Gallagher’s clear-headed approach and dedication are likely to be invaluable as England embark on their EURO2024 campaign. His ability to remain focused amidst speculation about his club future is indicative of his professional attitude: “I am a Chelsea player right now. Like I said, I am thinking about England and the tournament.”

As England gears up for their opening match against Serbia on June 16th, Gallagher’s experience, leadership, and enthusiasm will undoubtedly play a crucial role. The midfielder’s journey from a young hopeful at the World Cup to a key figure in this summer’s squad exemplifies his growth and determination.
