Arsenal confirmed on Wednesday that Victoria Pelova has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament during the recent international break, and will be “sidelined for an extended period” as she undergoes recovery.
The 25-year-old midfielder left the field after just 12 minutes of the Netherlands’ match in the southern Finnish city of Tampere last Tuesday [4 June].

Arsenal have been heavily disrupted by ACL injuries in recent seasons, with Laura Wienroither, Leah Williamson and Beth Mead all returning from the serious knee injury last season. Vivianne Miedema also came back from an ACL injury last term, but has since left the club at the expiration of her contract.
Pelova will undergo surgery in due course, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
