Aston Villa confirm signing of England forward on two-year deal

Aston Villa have secured the services of 21-year-old Katie Robinson, after the forward’s Brighton contract expired earlier this month.

Having spent a season on loan at Charlton Athletic since making her Seagulls debut in 2020, Robinson netted 10 goals in 68 appearances for the South Coast club. Her performances were noticed by Sarina Wiegman, with Robinson now boasting five senior England caps to her name.

She’ll play under another Dutch manager next season, with Robert de Pauw having recently taken the reins in Birmingham. Speaking about Robinson, the 42-year-old commented: “I’ve known of Katie since I was head coach of the KNVB WU17s.”

“She played as a winger against my team and she caused us a lot of difficulties,” he added, singling out her pace and praising her desire to “add to her five international caps.”

“Her ambition to become better matches ours,” he told the club, with that viewpoint echoed by Aston Villa’s Head of Women’s Football, Lee Billiard, who added that “Katie is a player with big potential and we look forward to seeing her in claret and blue.”
