With the transfer window still open in the Barclays Women’s Super League, Manchester United have pulled something of a coup by activating a release clause to prise Celin Bizet away from Tottenham Hotspur.
Bizet enjoyed a prosperous season in North London under Robert Vilahamn, having first put pen to paper with the Lilywhites in 2022. With a year left on her deal, the Norwegian has upped sticks after her release clause, understood to be in the region of £60k, was triggered.
Embed from Getty ImagesAs rumours of the move first beginning to circulate online over the weekend, reports suggested that Manchester United were keen to complete the deal ahead of heading to Marbella for the start of their pre-season campaign.
A photo shared on Facebook revealed that the 22-year-old had in fact arrived at Manchester Airport with the team on Tuesday, ahead of the official announcement on Wednesday. The situation drew comparisons from fans to Arsenal’s accidental unveiling of Emily Fox last summer, in which the full-back was spotted in the background of training session photos.
Bizet’s move to Leigh Sports Village ensures her budding on-pitch relationship with Grace Clinton will continue to flourish, after the duo played a key role in Tottenham’s success during Clinton’s loan spell in the capital last season.
