With his UEFA Champions League managerial debut on the horizon, Vincent Kompany addressed the media on Monday as his Bayern Munich side prepare to welcome Dinamo Zagreb to the Allianz Arena.
The stadium will also host the final of this year’s competition, and the former Burnley boss expressed optimism when asked if fans should be excited about the prospect of reaching a major final on home soil.
What did Vincent Kompany say?
Dinamo Zagreb are “a talented, technically good team,” insisted Vincent Kompany on Monday.
“They’re used to having the ball in the final third and looking for gaps. They’re a team that’s good at defending their box, allowing very little space. We want to force our game on them,” he suggested, adding that “hopefully that brings success.”
“For Bayern, it’s always about playing in a dominant way. It’s nothing new that you think about the opponent – you want to take advantage of their weaknesses and be prepared for their strengths.”

“We want to achieve our goals in every game and win points. We know the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, that’s our priority.”
If everything goes to plan for Kompany’s Bayern Munich, who sit two points clear of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig at the top of the Bundesliga table with three matches played, fans will begin to fantasise about the possibility of contesting the UEFA Champions League final at the Allianz Arena on 31 May 2025.
“There’s the dream for the fans. They can dream. The main thing for me is what we do on the pitch. We’ve got a tough game tomorrow. The important thing is that we play well tomorrow and win. We hope the fans can dream for a long time,” Kompany concluded.
