Aston Villa clinched an astounding victory under the lights of Villa Park, as the two sides met for the first time since their European Cup Final clash in 1982.
The winning goal came late, as Jhon Durán sent Villa Park into a state of elation with a looping strike in the 79th minute of play.

The first half came with a flurry of chances from both sides, as Emiliano Martinez was called into action to make a blocking save from Harry Kane’s header. Though the save lacked importance in the end, as Kane was found to have made his attempt from an offside position.
Villa Park were sent into a frenzy as Pau Torres made himself the hero in the game’s early stages, as the defender headed-home a strike from close range to seemingly give the Villans the lead. Though all celebrations were cut short, as the goal was discounted for an offside soon after.
Bayern got themselves into the game through Michael Olise, but his strike was tipped over the crossbar by Martinez in between the goalposts.
Ollie Watkins continued to terrorise the Bayern defence, proving a nightmare to mark and allowing his side consistent opportunities to breakdown the visitors at the back.
It was Jhon Durán who was the hero on the occasion, as a confident drive from the Colombian forward saw him spot Manuel Neuer off his line, before audaciously looping his strike into the back of the net to steal a late victory for the Villans in the 79th minute.
