Pep Guardiola says Manchester City “will have to accept” a tough season amid boos following Feyenoord collapse

Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that Manchester City are set to face one of their toughest seasons during his stewardship after blowing a 3-0 lead against Feyenoord

City were three to the good as deep into the game as the 74th minute, but a remarkable 15-minute comeback saw them pegged back to 3-3. They’ve now failed to win any of their last six games, and were met with boos come full time.

What did Pep Guardiola say?

Guardiola sympathised with the fans: “They’re right [to boo].”

“People do not come here to remember the success of the past. They come here to see us play well and win.”

“It is what it is. Difficult to swallow.”

Despite the frustration, the City boss insisted his players would learn from their mistakes.

“We will learn for the future. It will be a tough season for us; we will have to accept it.”

Croatian defender Joško Gvardiol made two mistakes which led to goals, but his manager was confident he will put it behind him.

“He’s so young, he will learn. He’s a fantastic boy, a fantastic player. Now, more than ever, he must be helped.”

Guardiola and Manchester City will have to learn from those mistakes quickly, with their next game a trip to table-topping Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday evening.
