Chelsea confirm Nouwen signs contract extension

Chelsea have confirmed that Aniek Nouwen has penned a contract extension with the club that will see her play for the Blues until the summer of 2026.

Having first put pen to paper on a deal with Chelsea in 2021, the 25-year-old made her debut in October of the same year. The Dutch international’s wait for silverware was a short one, with Emma Hayes’ side claiming victory over Manchester City in the 2021/22 FA Cup final – of which Nouwen played 69 minutes.

Nouwen signed a contract extension with the club before spending the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan with AC Milan, and her return to London was unfortunately marred by an ACL injury that left her sidelined for the majority of last season.

On signing a new contract with the club, Nouwen revealed: “I am very grateful for this extension and the trust. I’m looking forward to returning to action and continuing my journey.”

Another loan could be in order for the Dutch star, who is approaching 50 appearances for the Oranjeleeuwinnen, says Paul Green, Chelsea’s head of women’s football.

“Aniek continues to make good progress with her rehabilitation and we’re happy to extend her contract. We’ll monitor her fitness over the course of this month with a view to a possible loan move this window.”
