The results of Friday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League draw confirm that Manchester City and Chelsea will meet four times in the space of less than two weeks, with the two English sides pitted against eachother in the quarter-finals of the European competition.
The draw, held at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, plotted each team’s path to this year’s final, set to be held at Lisbon’s Estádio José Alvalade on May 24.
Arsenal – who remain the only English women’s side to have ever been crowned as European champions – will face Real Madrid, while Bayern Munich are pitted against Olympique Lyonnais.
VfL Wolfsburg will face Barcelona across two legs in a rematch of the 2022/23 final, in which Barça came from two goals down to claim victory in Eindhoven.
But perhaps the pick of the bunch will be the all-English clash, as Chelsea take on Manchester City. The two sides will face off against eachother four times in the space of less than two weeks, starting with their Subway Cup final on March 16.
In midweek, they’ll then meet in Manchester for the first leg of their UWCL quarter-final before yet another meeting – this time in the WSL – sees them take to the Etihad Stadium. They’ll conclude their flurry of encounters in London on March 27, with the second leg of their UWCL tie.
The semifinals will see the winner either Wolfsburg or Barcelona face Manchester City or Chelsea, while Real Madrid or Arsenal meet Bayern Munich or Lyon. Those clashes will be played on the 19/20 and 26/27 of April.
