Manchester United boss Marc Skinner confirmed he wants to stay at the club as the deadline for a decision on his contract approaches.
Skinner has been in charge of the women’s team since 2021 and the sacking of Manchester City’s Gareth Taylor this week made him the longest-serving current manager at any Barclays Women’s Super League club.
The manager signed a one-year contract extension in May last year, with the option of an additional year, and United have until the end of March to trigger that option. They could still negotiate a new contract with him later.

“They have to inform me by the end of the month whether it’s an option or a contract conversation. I’d love to stay.
“I feel there’s unfinished business. I really want to take this club and this team – we’ve designed and built a young team and I feel it has the imprint and the DNA of a Manchester United in the making, and a real famous Manchester United team. I want to see that through, and I want to make sure the fans and everybody know that I have that complete energy.”
Skinner’s tenure saw the club qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in 2023, when they finished second in the league. Last season, though, saw their lowest-ever WSL finish in fifth. Currently they sit second in the table, eight points behind Chelsea with a game in hand, and have already bettered last campaign’s points tally.
United face Liverpool tomorrow night at Anfield with kickoff at 19:15.
