FromTheSpot was launched in January 2023. As an aspiring sports journalist looking for a way into the industry, Rhys Webb created the FromTheSpot brand – initially to give himself a platform on which he could publish his work and begin to build a portfolio. We then started to take on other writers in a similar position, ranging from those who are looking to pursue a career in the industry to those who just love football and write about it out of enjoyment.
Since then, we’ve grown exponentially – and now have a team of more than thirty writers all producing high-quality content for FromTheSpot. Initially, we focused solely on the Premier League, but the expansion of our team has allowed us to cover a wider range of leagues and competitions – including the Women’s Super League and the Women’s Champions League. Inclusivity is important at FromTheSpot, so we place just as much emphasis on our coverage of the women’s game as we do the men’s.
Over the last few months, we’ve grown from a one-man-band to a brilliant team. We’ve done things we could have never dreamed of. We’ve interviewed professional footballers, and received press accreditation for some hugely important fixtures, both in the UK and in Europe – including the UEFA Champions League, the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, the UEFA Women’s Champions League and England Women’s Internationals. This is only the start for us though, and we’re always looking for new ways to grow and expand our content offering.
