Kylian Mbappé has what it takes to write his name in the Real Madrid history books, according to Carlo Ancelotti.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of los Blancos‘ Copa del Rey semi-final second leg, which gets underway at 20:30 BST [21:30 CEST] on Tuesday, the Italian expressed that the forward could be “a legend” in the Spanish capital.
In his first season in Madrid since a summer move from PSG, Mbappé has netted 33 goals across all competitions – which just so happens to be the number a certain Cristiano Ronaldo bagged in his first campaign with the club.
“What I wish for Mbappe is that he is capable of achieving what Ronaldo did at Real Madrid,” Ancelotti explained, “and I think that he can do it.”
“That means he will be a legend at Real Madrid, like Cristiano Ronaldo is.”
After matching Ronaldo’s goal tally with a brace against CD Leganés in LaLiga, Mbappé revealed to Real Madrid TV that “we speak and he gives me a lot of advice”.
“We know what he means for Real Madrid,” the Frenchman added.
Ronaldo, now aged 40, currently plies his trade in Saudi Arabia for Al-Nassr.
