The German side, who currently sit 3rd in the Bundesliga, will travel to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur for the first leg of the Europa league quarter finals without their captain.

In his absence, backup goalkeeper, 21-year-old Brazilian Kauã Santos, has stepped up in his absence and has produced some impressive performances.

In Frankfurt’s last four games, Kauã has kept one clean sheet and won three games, leading to him winning man of the match against VFL Bochum.

Tottenham Hotspur will have to produce a world-class performance of their own in order to capitalise on the Frankfurt captain’s absence.

Despite this, Frankfurt expect Trapp to return for the fixture on home soil on the 17th of April.
