Following Grimsby Town’s shock victory over Manchester United in the second round of the Carabao Cup, the European teams have been added to the competition.
To minimise fixture congestion, teams competing in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League all avoided one another.
Notably, Grimsby Town’s reward for their scalp over United is a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday, while none of Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester City or Liverpool will face Premier League opponents.
Holders Newcastle United will face Bradford City at St. James’ Park.
There’s also the tantalising prospect of a London derby at Selhurst Park.
