Jean-Philippe Mateta’s header and Tyrick Mitchell’s first goal since May 2024 earned Crystal Palace victory, despite Jarrod Bowen’s second-half equaliser, as West Ham remain winless at London Stadium since February 2025.
Graham Potter remains under high pressure as the Englishman has now only won six of his 23 Premier League games in charge of The Hammers.
As it happened
The first quarter of the game was well contested, but the first meaningful attempt at goal came from Konstantinos Mavropanos – his header off a James Ward-Prowse corner was saved by Dean Henderson.
Palace’s first real sight of goal came in the 32nd minute as Daniel Muñoz’s cross was headed back across the six-yard box to Daichi Kamada who headed wide.
Minutes later, the ball fell to Yéremy Pino inside the box but his volley deflected off Kyle Walker-Peters and away for a corner.
From the resulting set-piece, Palace took the lead. Marc Guéhi’s header was pushed onto the bar by Alphonse Areola before the ball fell to Mateta who nodded it over the line. The Eagles went in at half-time with the one goal advantage.
A minute into the second half saw Palace almost double their lead as Maxence Lacroix’s header rattled off the crossbar following a corner.
In the 49th minute, West Ham got their equaliser from a corner as Bowen directed El Hadji Malick Diouf’s cross into the bottom left corner.
The Hammers had a chance to take the lead 20 minutes later but Lucas Paquetá’s cross was headed wide at the back post by Walker-Peters.
Seconds later up the other end, Adam Wharton’s cross was flicked up by Mavropanos and Tyrick Mitchell riffled a volley past Areola to give Palace the lead and all three points.
