UEL Preview: Sevilla v Manchester United Team News, Predicted Lineups and Where To Watch

Manchester United travel to Spain for the second leg of their UEFA Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday, as they take on Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. In the first leg at Old Trafford, a brace from Marcel Sabitzer saw Erik Ten Hag’s side take an early lead – but a pair of late own goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire saw Sevilla earn an unlikely draw.

Since then, United have travelled to the City Ground – where they picked up three points against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Antony was a key figure in that game, scoring the opener before assisting Diogo Dalot for United’s second. Sevilla have also picked up three points in the league since their trip to Manchester last week, as they put two past Valencia.

Winning the Europa League is the only method that remains for Sevilla if they wish to qualify for European football next season. They currently sit in 13th, with nine games left to play – but they are 12 points off the Europa League spots. United’s participation in Europe is all but confirmed; though it’s not yet known which tournament they will play in.

Team News

Marcus Rashford looks set to return to Erik Ten Hag’s starting lineup, after missing out on the first leg due to a groin problem. However, that’s where the good news ends for the Dutch manager – who will be without Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez for this second leg encounter. Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are expected to replace his preferred centre-back pairing, though that represents a glaring weakness in this United side.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are also available for selection – alongside Marcel Sabitzer, who was replaced by Christian Eriksen ahead of kickoff at Nottingham Forest on the weekend after sustaining an injury during the warmup.

For Sevilla, they’ll be without Gonzalo Montiel – who picked up a yellow card in the first leg and now misses out due to suspension. Other than that, Jose Luis Mendilibar has a fully fit squad to choose from, which could prove to be their best asset against this in-form United side.

Predicted Lineups

Sevilla: Bono; Rekik, Marcão, Nianzou, Navas; Gudelj, Fernando; Ocampos, Rakitic, Torres; En-Nesyri

Manchester United: De Gea; Shaw, Lindelof, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Eriksen, Casemiro; Sancho, Fernandes, Antony; Rashford

Where can I watch?

This second-leg encounter will be shown live in the UK on BT Sport 1, with coverage starting at 7pm. Kickoff is at 8pm UK time on Thursday, 20th April 2023.
