The month of October saw the resurgence of Manchester United after a disappointing start to the season. The Red Devils have scored the most Premier League goals since the start of September and are currently on a three-match winning streak following their 4-2 win over Brighton.
Last weekend’s triumph saw Matheus Cunha finally open his account for the club after his recent return from injury, with Bryan Mbeumo adding a brace to his tally.
Ruben Amorim’s side currently sits sixth in the top-flight, but a win over Sean Dyche’s team could see them rise up to second with Bournemouth and Manchester City playing each other and Tottenham Hotspur facing a tough opposition in Chelsea.
However, United’s away form currently speaks against them, as does their recent record against Nottingham Forest. Saturday’s visitors have only picked up four points on the road this season, three of which came in a recent win over Liverpool. In addition, the Red Devils have lost their last three league games against Forest including two defeats at the City Ground.
Ruben Amorim’s men will aim to end this negative streak and will go into the game with a nearly fully fit squad. Harry Maguire is expected to return to action on Saturday, while the dressing room will be overjoyed from the presence of Lisandro Martínez. The World Cup winner has trained with the team this week, and though he is not ready to feature, the Argentinian will certainly be a strong voice for the dressing room.
Regardless of the lineup, the visitors will come to the City Ground as favourites as they face a side that has already sacked two managers this season.
Nottingham Forest are currently stuck in the relegation zone, three behind 17th place Fulham after last week’s 2-0 defeat to high-flying Bournemouth. Although Dyche has made a promising start with a victory over Porto in the Europa League, he has yet to end Forest’s winless run in the Premier League, which stretches back to the opening day of the season.
Saturday’s hosts have failed to score in their last four games and will be at risk of losing five league games in a row for the first time since October 2022.
Injuries have also hampered Forest’s chances on Saturday with last season’s top scorer Chris Wood out with a knee injury. Summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ola Aina, Dilane Bakwa and Angus Gunn are all sidelined too.
The game kicks off at 15:00 (GMT), however it will not be broadcast live in the UK as it falls under the 3pm blackout rule.
