Evan Ferguson extends Brighton contract

Brighton and Hove Albion have confirmed that Evan Ferguson has signed a new long-term deal, as the youngster is now set to remain at the American Express Stadium until June 2028. At just eighteen years old, the striker has scored nine goals for the Seagulls this season.

Four of those nine goals have come in the Premier League, and it’s safe to say that the Republic of Ireland international has well and truly found his shooting boots this season – netting his first international goal against Latvia last month too.

Since joining from Bohemians, Ferguson has risen through the academy and excelled at U21 level – and Roberto De Zerbi feels he has an incredibly bright future on the South Coast. “He trains and plays like a senior player with many years of experience and has become an important member of the squad. The aim is to help him become one of the strongest strikers in Europe.”

Manchester United were linked with the forward earlier this season, but it appears he is contented playing under De Zerbi – who has transformed Brighton into a side that is pushing to play European football next season. The Seagulls currently sit eighth in the Premier League, with 49 points. They’ve got nine games left to play, and will feel confident that they can secure a spot in the Europa League if results go their way.
