Wolves 1-1 Nottingham Forest: Cooper’s side held to a draw after first-half action

With Steve Cooper under pressure ahead of his side’s trip to Molineux on Saturday, the Nottingham Forest boss would be hoping that his players could muster a performance worthy of three points against a tough Wolves side.

WOL: Sá; Toti, Dawson, Kilman; Bueno, Gomes, Lemina, Semedo; Cunha, Hwang, Sarabia

NFO: Turner; Niakhaté, Murillo, Boly; Toffolo, Kouyaté, Mangala, Yates, Williams; Gibbs-White, Elanga

With 12 minutes on the clock in Wolverhampton, it was Harry Toffolo that arrived in the box to head the visitors into the lead – nodding Neco Williams’ cross from deep past the goalkeeper to record his first goal for Nottingham Forest.

But Wolves responded well, and a beautiful passing move created an opportunity for Pablo Sarabia to tee up Matheus Cunha with a neat cutback. The Brazilian made no mistake with the finish, restoring parity with just over thirty minutes played at Molineux.

The visitors could have taken the lead again before the break through Cheikhou Kouyaté, but fine goalkeeping from Jose Sá saw him denied.

Further squandered efforts from both Anthony Elanga and Toffolo in the second half saw Forest settle for a point, frustrated in the knowledge that they could have been heading home with a much-needed victory.
