FIFA name Ederson as The Best Men’s Goalkeeper of 2023

At an awards ceremony in London, Ederson has been named by FIFA as The Best Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year for his notable successes with Manchester City throughout 2022/23.

The award takes into account performances from December 19th, 2022 through to August 20th, 2023 – thus including the Citizens’ incredible treble triumph that saw them lift the Premier League, Emirates FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

Ederson has never won this award before, and fought off competition from both Yassine Bounou and Thibaut Courtois to lift the trophy in London.

Speaking as he accepted the award, Ederson said: ‘First of all I’d thank to thank God for all the blessings I’ve had in my life, for all the achievements I’ve been able to get. Thanks to my team for the great year, the great work. I left a lot behind in order to be able to achieve these things and I’m very happy to be able to achieve this trophy today.’
