Barcelona’s 4-1 win against Girona in el Derbi Català at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Sunday afternoon ensured that the Blaugrana remain three points clear of Real Madrid in the LaLiga table.
It was a performance that pleased Hansi Flick, who told reporters in his post-match press conference that his side “are in a great moment, and we’re generating a lot of danger when we’re in possession. The result is very good – perfect, even.”
“I’m really happy with the result and with the dominance that we showed,” he explained, adding that “that’s the beautiful thing about my team. They always want to score goals, and that’s what everyone wants to see.”
A double from Robert Lewandowski was crucial to securing victory against the Blanquivermells, and Flick was keen to pile on the praise for the Polish forward, who sits at the top of the LaLiga goalscorer charts with a staggering 25 goals this season.
The 60-year-old German stressed that the talismanic forward “is very important” for Barça, highlighting that he is “special inside the box.”
“It’s essential that he feels that the coach has trust in him – and that’s not just him, that’s all the players, and I’m the one that has to make them feel that way.”
