PREVIEW: Nottingham Forest aim to continue positive run as they host Brighton

Brighton will be looking to avoid a repeat of the drubbing they suffered at this ground last season.

Nottingham Forest welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to the City Ground on Sunday afternoon in hopes of extending their five-game unbeaten run under manager Sean Dyche.

The Tricky Tees head into the clash on the back of a 3-0 win against Malmö in the Europa League, before which they also claimed a sensational 3-0 win away to Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.

Forest absolutely humiliated Brighton in their last clash at the City Ground, as the hosts ran out 7-0 winners back in February.

Nottingham Forest also knocked out the Seagulls in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in March, winning 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw.

The hosts head into the match with confidence as they are currently unbeaten in their last five matches and sit seven points below their opponents in 16th place.

The two sides have faced each other 44 times with Forest coming out on top with 19 wins. For their part, Brighton have won 13 times and the two sides have shared the spoils on 12 occasions.

With regard to team news, Nottingham Forest’s sizeable injury list sees the likes of Murillo, Douglas Luiz, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ola Aina and Chris Wood, though Morgan Gibbs-White is in the starting 11.

Meanwhile, Brighton are seventh in the Premier League table with five wins, four draws and three losses from their opening 12 games.

They head into the match on the back of a 2-1 win against Brentford and are aiming to extend an unbeaten run of their own from three games to four, with a draw against Crystal Palace and a win over Leeds United preceding their victory over the Bees.

With only two losses in their last 10 games in all competitions – and with those coming against Manchester United and Arsenal especially – Fabian Hürzeler’s men have every reason to be confident ahead of their game at the City Ground.

Brighton’s last win at this ground came back in November 2023 in the form of a 3-2 win which came despite Lewis Dunk picking up a red card.

They will be without Adam Webster, Solly March, Kaoru Mitoma, James Milner and Tom Watson due to injuries.

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Cricket in the UK with a kick-off time of 14:05 GMT.
