Caicedo commits future to the Seagulls

Moises Caicedo has penned a new, long-term deal with Brighton and Hove Albion, as confirmed by the club’s press office in a statement on Friday. The Ecuadorian’s new contract runs until 2027, with an option that would allow the club to extend his stay at the AMEX by a further year.

Since joining the Seagulls in February 2021, Moises Caicedo has made 29 league appearances – and the youngster has attracted the attention of other Premier League outfits, including Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners planned on signing the 21-year-old in January, but Roberto De Zerbi insisted the midfielder was not for sale.

De Zerbi made the headlines when he kept Caicedo away from the first-team squad amidst rumours of a transfer, but on Friday he said that “this is fantastic news for the club, our fans, for me and most importantly for Moises. It will make us stronger as we move forwards towards our targets on the pitch.”

Brighton will host West Ham United at 3pm on Saturday.
