UWCL PREVIEW: Chelsea v Lyon, Team News, Predicted Lineups and Where to Watch

Chelsea welcome European champions Lyon back to Stamford Bridge for the second-leg of their UWCL quarter-final. Having secured victory in the first leg thanks to Guro Reiten’s curling effort, Chelsea will be hoping to secure a famous victory and progress through to the semi-finals of the competition for the fourth time in five seasons.

However, they will need to play better than the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Academy Stadium last weekend if they are to get past the team that have lifted the UWCL trophy in six of the past seven seasons.

As for Lyon, they are once again top of the French league, but are embroiled in a tough title battle with rivals PSG. The Lyonnais go into this game off the back of a 6-0 demolition of Guingamp. Stamford Bridge will play host to the game, with over 13,000 tickets already being sold. Chelsea will be hoping for a famous night at the Bridge, and to join Arsenal in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Should they win, they’ll face Barcelona – who cruised to victory over Roma last night.

Team News

Fran Kirby remains absent for Chelsea, as concerns grow around her availability for this summer’s World Cup. Millie Bright picked up a knock in the first leg, and didn’t train on Wednesday, but she hasn’t been declared as unavailable. Pernille Harder and Katerina Svitkova are both confirmed to be out of this one.

As for Lyon, both Amel Majri and Ada Hegerberg are both back and available for selection after recovering from their injuries, but Amandine Henry is ruled out of the game.
