Sébastien Haller returns to football after cancer treatment

Following his devastating cancer diagnosis last year, Borussia Dortmund striker Sébastien Haller’s focus was immediately switched from playing football to his journey to working on getting back to full health.

On Tuesday, Haller appeared off the bench in the second half for his first outing for Dortmund since last July, having completed his treatment and recovery from the testicular tumour.

He came on to replace Youssoufa Moukoko in the closing stages of the game, in an emotional moment for the player and his team-mates.

The health issue was discovered last summer just weeks after he completed a big money move from Ajax, after the Ivorian complained of feeling unwell during pre-season training. As a result, he has not yet made a single competitive appearance for the German giants but is in line to feature later this month when domestic action resumes.
