After Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Oxford United in Monday’s FA Cup Third Round fixture, allegations have emerged that Oxford United’s left-back, Ciaron Brown, may have been involved in match fixing.
FromTheSpot can confirm that our team have seen screenshots sent to a WhatsApp group – timestamped before kickoff – that Brown was planning on receiving a card, and the odds on that happening were 8/1. The message sender then attached a screenshot in which he had placed £181 on Ciaron Brown to be booked.
Ciaron Brown was in fact booked in the 59th minute of the fixture – with the game at 0-0 before Mohamed Elneny opened the scoring four minutes later. Two goals from Nketiah cemented Arsenal’s progression to the next round of the competition.
At the time of publishing, the claims made in this article have not yet been verified by the FA. Despite seeing screenshots with supporting evidence, FromTheSpot would like to reiterate that these are unconfirmed claims at this moment in time – updates will be provided when we have them. The information we have received has been passed to the FA, and we believe they are launching an investigation imminently.
