After just eighteen months at the club, we understand that Rafaelle Souza is set to leave Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window. The 31-year-old Brazilian signed from Chinese side Changchun Zhuoyue, and is now rumoured to be in the final stages of discussions with NWSL outfit Orlando Pride.
During her stint in North London, the defender has demonstrated her versatility – operating primarily as a centre-back but moving out to the left flank when necessitated by injuries to the squad. Rafaelle has also been instrumental to the club’s progress in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this season, and scored as the Gunners defeated Chelsea in the Continental Tyres Cup Final.
While the Brazilian is understood to be happy at her current club, the opportunity of a transfer to Orlando Pride is too big of an opportunity to turn down. Fans will have one final opportunity to watch Rafaelle in an Arsenal shirt on Saturday, as the club host Aston Villa to conclude their WSL campaign.
