As per Fabrizio Romano, Brighton have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Mohamed Dahoud. The midfielder’s contract has expired at Signal Iduna Park, allowing him to move on a free transfer this summer – and after verbal discussions, it is now understood that the German has signed with the Seagulls.
The 27-year-old midfielder signed for Dortmund at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, and has gone on to make 141 appearances for Die Schwarzgelben across all competitions. Goalscoring isn’t Dahoud’s best attribute – netting just five goals in that time – but he offers superb reliability at the heart of the midfield.
With Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister both heavily linked with moves away from Brighton, Dahoud could be the foundation of Roberto De Zerbi’s side moving forwards. It is believed that the midfielder is a fan of De Zerbi’s playing style, and that has been influential in settling on Brighton as his next club.
