Benzema ‘tempted’ by Saudi Arabia offer

It is widely believed that Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema is ‘seriously considering’ a ludicrous offer from a Saudi Arabian club. According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has received a ‘huge proposal’, with Real Madrid aware of the developments.

These reports are furthered by recent breaking news from leading Spanish source AS Sport – who report that Benzema has been offered a salary in excess of €400m over two years. In effect, this would closely match the reported £173m earned annually by Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.

Saudi Arabian clubs are desperate to attract top talents to their league, as the nation attempts to launch a lucrative bid for the 2030 World Cup – which would be held jointly alongside Turkey and Greece.

A move to the Gulf would bring an end to a fourteen-year career in the Spanish capital city, as Benzema signed for los Blancos in 2009. In 647 appearances across all competitions, he has scored an astonishing 353 goals. While his prospective new club has not yet been named, it is likely to be either Al-Hilal or Al-Nassr – and the latter would see him link up with former teammate and close friend Cristiano Ronaldo.
