Dalot puts pen to paper on five-year deal

Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot has extended his stay at Old Trafford by five years, in a deal that will see the full-back remain at the club until 2028. Dalot joined the Red Devils in 2018, moving from Porto in a transfer worth a reported £19m.

There is also the option to extend this new deal by an additional year. Since joining United, Dalot has made 107 appearances – 42 of which have come this season under Erik Ten Hag. He’s also received 11 caps for the Portuguese national side.

In a statement released on the club website, Dalot said that ‘playing for Manchester United is one of the highest honours that you can have in football,’ – and in a message to the fans, he added ‘I can assure you that I will dedicate myself relentlessly to helping this group to achieve our aims and make the fans proud of this team.

Manchester United’s footballing director, John Murtough, expressed his delight at the new deal, stating that ‘Diogo’s work ethic and professionalism is superb; the way in which he prepares himself every day in order to perform at his highest level is exactly what we all want from a Manchester United player.
