Manchester City and Manchester United are set to meet at Wembley on Saturday, as they look to battle for the FA Cup. It represents the first-ever major final between these two sides, though they have met at the National Stadium twice before.
We’ve looked at the teams both sides have had to overcome to reach this dramatic final, but ultimately it all comes down to this one game. Having clinched the Premier League following a dramatic title fight with Arsenal, Manchester City will look to put themselves one step closer to the treble – as they prepare to face Inter Milan in Istanbul seven days later.
Team News
There’s plenty of good news for Manchester City fans, as Erling Haaland, Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva are all set to return to the starting eleven after missing out against Brentford. Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Manuel Akanji and Ruben Dias will also return to the squad. Pep Guardiola confirmed that Stefan Ortega will be the starting goalkeeper.
Antony Martial has been ruled out for Manchester United, having torn his hamstring in the final game of the Premier League season. There are slender hopes that Antony may return to fitness in time, though Erik Ten Hag isn’t confident of the Brazilian’s chances of recovery. Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer remain sidelined.
Predicted Lineups
Manchester City: Ortega; Walker, Dias, Akanji; Stones, Rodri; Silva, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Grealish; Haaland
Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lindelof, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen; Garnacho, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford
