Bellingham set to sign for Real Madrid

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Real Madrid are close to agreeing a deal for Jude Bellingham. In a press release issued on their website, the German club state that Real Madrid will pay a fee of €103m for the Englishman, with another 30% of that fee set to be payable as add-ons.

Bellingham moved to Dortmund ahead of the 2021/22 season, signing from his boyhood club – Birmingham City. Since his arrival in Germany, the midfielder has made 132 appearances for die Schwarzgelben, scoring 24 goals.

During Bellingham’s stint at the Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund have won the DFB-Pokal once. Bellingham himself has been included in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for the last two years, being named as the Player of the Year in 2022/23.

Still just nineteen years old, Bellingham has appeared 24 times for England – including throughout the FIFA World Cup, where he scored his first goal for the national side in a 6-2 win over Iran. With many touting him as the Three Lions’ next captain, it’s clear to see that Real Madrid have acquired not just an exceptional footballer, but an incredible leader.
