Liverpool have completed the signing of Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister. After an exceptional performance in the World Cup that propelled him into the limelight, the Argentinian midfielder has been linked with moves to a number of high profile clubs – but it’s Jurgen Klopp’s side that walk away with his signature.
At 24 years old, Mac Allister is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world. Despite missing out on the Albiceleste’s defeat to Saudi Arabia at the World Cup, he starred in the rest of their games – playing a key role as Argentina won their third World Cup trophy with a win over France.
Mac Allister was expected to attract a high transfer fee, as his international teammate Enzo Fernández did, but Liverpool have managed to secure his services for just £35m. That fee could rise to £55m, with performance-related add-ons expected to be part of the deal.
I’m sure this team will give everything to win trophies and make them happy, that’s the most important thing. I hope they stay behind me and behind the team and I know they will do it, so it’s a pleasure to be here at this club and I will do my best every single day.
