Wigan Athletic has signed Christ Tiéhi on a initial loan deal until the end of the 2022/23 campaign from FC Slovan Liberec. The 24-year-old featured regularly for Slavia Prague in the Czech Pro League and UEFA Conference League in the first half of the season, and will link up with Kolo Toure’s side to help keep the Latics from dropping into the third tier.
Tiéhi began his career at Le Havre AC and made his senior debut in August 2018, featuring in a 2-0 Coupe de la Liege win over Football Bourg-en Bresse Pèronnas.
Spells in England with Woking and Tonbridge Angels followed, before Tiéhi signed for Czech First League side Opava in November 2020. He scored two goals in 26 appearances, before earning a move to fellow top-flight side Slovan Liberec in the summer of 2021.
Playing 20 times for Slovan Liberec in his debut season, Tiéhi joined Slavia Prague on loan in September 2022, where he featured regularly in both the domestic league and the UEFA Conference League.
