Chelsea agree long-term deal with Noni Madueke

Chelsea look set to make their sixth signing of the transfer window, with PSV Eindhoven’s Noni Madueke reportedly agreeing to join the club in a deal worth £30m.

The English winger is extremely versatile and can also be deployed in a central attacking role, and has bagged eleven goals in 51 appearances for PSV. The 20-year-old has also featured for England’s youth sides.

Madueke has previously been linked with moves to other Premier League clubs, including Leicester City who remain desperate in their search for a competent right winger to replace Riyad Mahrez. For now though, it seems like it will be the Stamford Bridge outfit that are able to tie the Englishman into a long-term deal.

Questions must surely be asked of Chelsea and their transfer strategy under Todd Boehly, with the club spending over £125m so far this window, excluding the reported fee for Madueke. Despite some impressive names making the move to the capital city, it’s unclear where they’ll fit in for Graham Potter – who has struggled to get his Chelsea side firing again, with the club currently sitting 10th in the league after a disappointing campaign. This weekend’s clash with Liverpool, who hold 9th place due to goal difference, could be vital for Potter’s side and his tenure as head coach of the Blues.
