Martinelli signs new contract at Arsenal

Gabriel Martinelli has put pen to paper on a new deal at Arsenal. The Brazilian is the club’s 2nd top goalscorer with 7 goals and 2 assists this season. A fan favourite, Martinelli has expressed his desire to sign a new contract numerous times in the past year stating in an interview that “I just need to get a pen!”

The Brazilian’s previous contract was set to expire in 2024, whilst Arsenal possessed the option to extend by 2 years. Martinelli’s new contract keeps him at the Emirates until at least 2027. The winger is reportedly set to be earning £180,000 per week in his improved deal, ranking him 3rd behind Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey for highest wages at the club.

With the recent signing of Leandro Trossard, Martinelli now faces competition for the left-wing spot – yet that hasn’t changed his mind on his new deal. With the same number of goal contributions in the league so far, both wingers will be fighting for the starting spot in Arteta’s team until 2027 when their contracts come to a close.
