Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the loan signing of Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro. The Spaniard, who predominantly plays as a full-back but has previously been deployed as a wing-back, will join Antonio Conte’s side ahead of their clash with Manchester City on Sunday. His versatility will be appreciated by Conte, as it allows him tactical flexibility.
It’s believed that the contract includes an obligation-to-buy clause, meaning Spurs will pay a £5m loan fee to Sporting Lisbon, before paying a further £39m in the summer to sign the player on a permanent basis.
Pedro Porro is the club’s second signing in this transfer window, after Arnaut Danjuma joined on loan until the end of the season in a move from LaLiga side Villarreal. Spurs have also seen the departure of Djed Spence, with the youngster spending the rest of the season on loan at Rennes. Matt Doherty has also left the club, joining Atletico Madrid on loan.
