Following the confirmation of his move from Monaco earlier this week, Benoit Badiashile has now had his new shirt number for Chelsea announced. Benoit has chosen the vacant number 4 jersey, previously worn by Andreas Christensen, who left the club for Barcelona last summer.
The French defender signed a contract with the Blues, that runs until 2030 and trained at Cobham with his new team-mates for the first time earlier this week, with an eye on potentially making his Chelsea debut against Manchester City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
David Datro Fofana, who finalised his move from Molde earlier on Saturday, will also hope to be involved at the Etihad this weekend and he has been handed the number 27 shirt. Goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, who has returned from a loan spell at Chicago Fire, has also been given a squad number for the remainder of the season, the number 36.
This announcement follows on from the news that Edouard Mendy has undergone surgery on a fractured finger sustained earlier this week, further adding to Potter’s injury woes.
